We present a method to characterize the wettability of powders, based on the penetration dynamics of a sessile drop deposited on a slightly compressed powder bed. First, we show that a direct comparison of the wetting properties of different liquids is possible without having to solve the three-dimensional liquid penetration problem, by considering the appropriate dimensionless variables. We show that the contact area between the sessile drop and the powder bed remains constant during most of the penetration process and demonstrate that as a result, the evolution of the dimensionless penetration volume is given by a universal function of the dimensionless time, with no dimensionless parameters.
A total of 93 sites were sampled and from 3 to droplets were used to characterize a site. The detected SWR varied with the severity of the wildfire, being practically absent in the unburnt control area and slight to extreme in the burnt areas. The percentage of extremely repellent sites increased with wildfire severity. SWR vanished one year after the passage of the fire in sites where fire severity was moderate but it persisted in the case of a severe wildfire.

An assessment method for this injury is necessary in order to develop a safer manufactured product. To assess the risk of skin laceration injury in a penetration accident, a skin simulant made from silicone rubber was proposed.
The standard penetration test SPT is an in-situ dynamic penetration test designed to provide information on the geotechnical engineering properties of soil. My colleague Brittany Thomas brought it up again in her Penetration Testing piece last week, so I thought it might be an opportune time to give you a bit of a hands on lab, so to speak, and show you some of my tricks for actually conducting USB drop attacks, including how to prepare the payload using Core Impact. USB drop attacks are a bit of a performance art form. First off, you need to be very selective about where you leave these things. You need to put them in places where it is almost certain that the folks who pick them up will plug them in inside the target network, not elsewhere.
